the battle of epping forest

first days in London: the walk to epping forest

"Along the forest road, theres hundreds of cars - luxury cars.
Each has got its load of convertible bars, cutlery cars - superscars!
For today is the day when they sort it out, sort it out,
cos they disagree on a gangland boundary.
They disagree on a gangland boundary."

The Battle of Epping Forest is a song by English rock band Genesis, appearing on their 1973 album Selling England by the Pound .

ok that no one knows where the Epping forest is, and there is no especial reason to know it. but you know how special places can be when they live for years in our imagination for a long time. and London is so crowded of these little references that it really strikes you when find it in a map or just passing by the road. living so close to epping forest, today I took courage to get there and see what it is like. please, note that I could have gone to London Eye, or Trafalgar Square, but I'd rather go to this lousy suburban forest in a bike (Lynn's bike), without a map. of course I could only know parts of it, due to the lack of a proper map, and also the bicycle wasn't in its better shape.
if you get to the links you can get much better information of it than I can possibly do, but instead I can show my view of the forest, and you know what, is a very beautiful place and so close to the town.

"Along the forest road, its the end of the day
And the clouds roll away.
Each has got its load - theyll come out for the count
At the break-in of day.
When the limos return for their final review, its all thru
- all they can see is the morning goo.
Theres no-one left alive - must be draw.
So the blackcap barons toss a coin to settle the score."
